How a Complimentary Physical Therapy Strength and Flexibility Screen can give you some direction.

Recently I have had the pleasure of offering strength and flexibility screens at a couple of our local businesses here in Cedar Park and Leander.  The feedback has been wonderful!  I thought I would share in the blog how a screening might help you find direction and feel good about your body and your exercise routine.

While each complimentary screen might look different from patient to patient and therapist to therapist, a few things will likely remain the same.  The screen will take 15-20 minutes of your time, and you will walk away knowing a few things that you might need to work on or maybe even decide that physical therapy is a path you might want to go down for your issues.  A free general screen will be an overall quick check to identify areas that are in good shape and those that need a little work.

During my screens, I like to do a quick history so that I am aware of any past or current injuries or problems.  This helps me spot deficits that might be potential problem areas for you.

What an ALEYA Screen Looks Like

  1. A quick look at your posture and a few functional activities such as walking, balancing and squatting gives me some great information about how you perform in an upright position.  We live here so this is super important.

  2. I will also do some screening of your range of motion and overall mobility (think your neck, back, shoulders, hips, etc.).  We can quickly identify areas that are potentially limited and may cause you issues now or in the future.

  3. Next up, we do a screen of general strength of your arms, legs, hips and core muscles.  We also look at flexibility of these areas, as the two must really be in good balance for optimal function and decreased risk for injuries.

  4.  You walk away with some tangible information on areas of concern, potential issues, and maybe even a quick exercise or two!  If necessary, you can always schedule a more in-depth evaluation to delve deeper into bigger problems or ongoing pain/injury, but a screen is a wonderful place to start.

Oftentimes, physical therapists will find patterns of movement dysfunction and/or muscular imbalance that we can help you correct to improve your pain or reduce your risk of injury or reinjury.  Physical therapists are movement specialists, so we love to put the pieces of your puzzle together to help you move better, feel better, and function better!

At ALEYA PT & Wellness, I offer complimentary screens at local Cedar Park/Leander businesses on occasion to serve those who are interested.  It is a fun way to be out in the community serving!  If you haven’t caught me at one of these events but would like to receive a complimentary screen, let’s get together.  It is my passion to help others be well.

You can click here and scroll down to find the “Schedule a free phone consultation” button to start.  If you know that you need more formal physical therapy and are ready to get started, we can do that too!  I can evaluate you without a doctor’s referral initially.  You can find more information about physical therapy services on the website as well.  No real pain or problems right now but want to start a program to learn how to improve your health and reduce your risk of developing issues?  ALEYA also offers Wellness Programs to help guide you on your path.  So many options at ALEYA...you can choose what works for you!

If a complimentary physical therapy screen sounds right for you (and you live in the Cedar Park or Leander areas), you can also just give me a call at (512)588-5408, and we will find a time that works.
